“Dua” is an Arabic word meaning “supplication” or “prayer.” It refers to asking Allah (God) for something, expressing gratitude, or seeking forgiveness. In Islam, it is a central aspect of worship and considered to be a means of communicating with Allah. Dua can be made in any language, but many Muslims prefer to use Arabic when reciting specific duas from the Quran or the Hadith (the sayings and actions of the Prophet Muhammad).
