According to Islamic tradition, Hazrat Ibrahim’s (known as Abraham in the Judeo-Christian tradition) father’s name is Azar as mentioned in the Quran in
وَإِذْ قَالَ إِبْرَٰهِيمُ لِأَبِيهِ ءَازَرَ ۖ
And ˹remember˺ when Abraham said to his father, Ȃzar
(Surah Anam verse no 74 : )
He is often described as someone who practiced idol worship, which was prevalent in the society of that time, and In Islamic tradition, Hazrat Ibrahim’s uncle is believed to be Haran.
Hazrat Abraham’s father was named Terah, and his uncle was named Haran. Terah is believed to have been an idol worshiper, while Haran is mentioned in some religious texts as having died prematurely.
