🐕 Orders for the keeping and sale of dogs 🐕
The following orders are mentioned regarding the keeping and buying and selling of dogs, the reading of which will be useful for everyone in order to get rid of objections. Inshallah.
1.It is mentioned in the blessed hadiths that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said that if a dog spits in a vessel, it should be washed seven times.Similarly, in another hadith, it is said that the water in the pot in which the dog spits should be spilled,After that it should be washed seven times.Apart from this, there are other traditions related to the lying of the dog which prove the impurity of the dog. On the basis of these hadiths, Hanaf jurists have declared dogs impure. But it should be noted that according to the correct view, the dog is najis, not “najis al-ain”; Therefore, its skin etc. can also be purified and can be used. And the traditions that mention the impurity of the dog are reliable because of their authenticity.
2.There is a strict prohibition of keeping a dog in the hadiths, angels of mercy do not come where there is a dog. And there is a hadith that one carat is reduced daily from the actions of a dog breeder without need. Therefore, keeping dogs in the house is a cause of deprivation of good fortune; Therefore, it is very important to avoid keeping dogs. However, if the dog is bred to protect animals and crops or for hunting So shariah has allowed it.Therefore, it is not permissible to keep a hobby dog, it is correct to keep it for protection or hunting purposes.
3.In the hadiths in which keeping dogs for the purpose of hunting or protection is permitted, it is the tradition of Bukhari Sharif, and the authenticity of Bukhari Sharif is not hidden from anyone with knowledge; So his traditions are also correct. Also, from verse 4 of Surat al-Ma’idah, the justification for keeping hunting dogs is known. While mentioning the Companions of the Cave, where their dog is mentioned, Imam Qurtubi has written that in that Shari’ah, keeping dogs will be allowed; So they may have taken a dog with them or to protect one’s goats. And in the sub-rules, it happens that the sub-rules are given differently in different shariats. However, it will not be correct to argue about the justification of keeping dogs from the incident of Companions of the Cave, similarly, the commentators have explained this matter wherever they have mentioned the Companions of the Cave That the dog of the Companions of the Cave stayed with the peace-makers, with his blessing, Allah mentioned it in the Holy Qur’an. This was a partial virtue of this dog.
4.The jurists of Hanaf have clarified regarding the trade of dogs for hunting etc. that its purchase and sale is permissible when the dog is trained (corrected) i.e. hunting or for protection. But if it is objected to this that it is mentioned in the hadith that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade the sale of a dog, then how can its sale become permissible? So here is the answer That this is a matter of the beginning of Islam when it was not permissible to use a dog in any way, then when the use of a dog was made legal, then in these special cases its purchase and sale also became permissible. The Hanafs say that in the beginning it was not permissible to usufruct from a dog, then appropriation came and when usufruct was declared permissible, then buying and selling it was also declared permissible. For this reason, the sale and purchase of useful dogs only is allowed, and the sale of dogs is not allowed at all. The legality of dog trading is not clear in any hadith, the jurists have clarified it, in summary, buying and selling a dog from which it is permissible to usufruct is also permissible, and the dog from which usufruct is not permissible It is also not permissible to buy and sell it.
5.It is not permissible to keep a dog unnecessarily and it is also an obstacle for the arrival of angels. Therefore, these orders will not attract them.
6.It is mentioned in Hadith Sharif that angels do not enter a house where there are dogs or pictures; Therefore, keeping dogs in the house is a cause of deprivation of angels of mercy; So it is important to avoid it as much as possible.
Only Allah knows best.
There is a strict prohibition of keeping dogs in hadiths, it is mentioned in hadith sharif that angels do not visit a house where there are dogs or pictures. And there is a hadith that one carat is reduced daily from the deeds of a dog breeder without need. Therefore keeping dogs in the house is a cause of loss of good fortune; Therefore, it is very important to avoid dog breeding as a hobby.
However, if the dog is bred for the protection of animals and crops or for hunting, then it is allowed by the Shariat.
Before Islam, it was common for Arabs to keep dogs, and people were used to having them around. When the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) came, he ordered people to get rid of dogs to discourage keeping them. This order was only temporary, and later it was canceled. After that, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said it was okay to keep dogs for three specific reasons: hunting, guarding crops, and protecting herds. (If your home is unsafe, keeping a dog for security is also okay.) Keeping dogs for other reasons is not allowed.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said that angels of mercy do not enter a house if it has pictures or dogs.
In another saying, the Prophet (peace be upon him) mentioned that if someone keeps a dog for any reason other than guarding livestock, crops, or hunting, they lose a part of their daily reward.
So, aside from these three reasons, keeping a dog isn’t allowed.
